Cedar Fair Run and Ride series – Cedar Point
Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, Gemini, Gatekeeper. These are not some strange mystic martial art holds; they are the amazing coasters you will be running through and around when you take part in one of the fun events offered during the Run & Ride weekend at Cedar Point amusement park located in Sandusky, Ohio.
Opening its park gates just for you to get your run on, Cedar Point is proud to present a half-marathon, 5K, and 1-mile fun run that will twist and turn through the park way before any of the other thrill seekers get to walk through the gates.
The half-marathon registration includes free park entry for the runner Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday (June 27-29). Discounted park entry is included with all other distances. Don’t want to leave the spouse and kids at home? Bring them along! They also can enjoy an amazing discounted rate for the entire weekend, and while you soak in that ice bath, they can take to the rides and have their own kinda fun.
The Cedar Point Half-Marathon
Sunday, June 29th, 2014 6:45 am
After the first mile you will dive into the park and through the underbelly of Gatekeeper, the world’s longest wing coaster, then wind your way through Cedar Point Amusement Park. Take in the sights of the coasters as they tower overhead. Don’t forget to pick out your favorite ride so you can come back and ride it later in the day. No stopping now…you still have 10 miles to go. After exiting the park you will pass over the causeway surrounded by Lake Erie on either side and then head into downtown Sandusky for an out-and-back course along closed roads. With towering coasters in the distance, the park will always be a visible reminder of just how far you have gone and how well you are doing. Finish up your 13.1 miles under the finishers’ arch to cheering friends, family, and volunteers. With BibChip timing we will be looking to see who can set the course record for this first-year event on this very flat course. Half-marathon participants enjoy free entry to the park all weekend.
