Bellingham’s first annual Queens of Dirt (QOD) Mountain Bike Race takes place Sept. 22nd. This women and junior girls’ cross-country mountain bike race is intended to create a welcoming experience for new and seasoned female mountain bike racers of all ages. Different courses for the five categories run on Lake Padden’s back-loop trails (former Padden Pedal course). Categories range from under 8 years old (following 2.4 miles of gravel and wooded paths around Lake Padden) to an Expert/Open Women’s category for intermediate/advanced riders with race experience and includes 12 miles and 2,500 feet of climbing.
