Conductors and singers have the possibility to attend workshops with Morten Lauridsen and other choral experts and to assimilate the beauty of Florida’s coast: This stunning region represents a unique composition of land, sea and sky and is known as one of the best holiday destinations worldwide. Miami and Miami Beach – two cities which are often named synonymous but are very different from each other. Palm trees, beaches, glitter, Art-Deco, luxury and a Latin American atmosphere are typical characteristics of the greater area Miami.
West of downtown the Cuban part of Miami, Little Havana, is located. In this district, which is nearly completely inhabited by Hispanic Americans, the streets are more colourful than anywhere else, the music and food full of passion and the sorrows of the visitors a little bit farther. The quarter appears like a smaller copy of the Cuban capital Havana: There is a slight fragrance of tobacco, coffee and salsa and music is in the air.
Little Havana is also home of the MANUEL ARTIME THEATRE, where the competitions of MIAMI VOICE will be held. It is a multi-purpose theatre owned by the city of Miami. The former Baptist church was transformed by the city into a modern theatre with a large stage. Its shows compromise local ballet performances, the Miami Lyric Opera and Latin Stars such as Maria Creuza, the Brazilian Bossa Nova diva, and the Miami International Jazz Festival.
