Gobi March (China) 2017 is a 7-day, 250-kilometer / 155-mile self-supported footrace. It takes place in Hami region in the eastern part of Xinjiang Province in China in the area of the Ancient Silk Road. The 250 kilometer / 155 mile course is the most diversified course of the 4 Deserts Race Series combining a cooler weather mountain trail race and a hot desert race. It follows the Tian Shan Mountains, one of the largest mountain ranges in Asia, and crosses the mountain range on Stage 2. It takes competitors through Alpine scenery, pastures and yurt villages, river beds, sand dunes, rough Gobi terrain and the sandy Black Gobi Desert famous for its huge stunning sandstone formations. Competitors will also get to experience the colourful culture of the Uyghur, Kazak and Hui ethnic groups who live along the course.
