The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC) announced today a new joint venture team roping event to be held this Fall in Fort Worth, Texas, in conjunction with APHA Open/Amateur World Show (Nov 6-17, 2013). The event, the Cowtown ShootOut presented by the APHA will take place November 15-17, 2013 at the renowned Will Rogers Coliseum and will be produced by the USTRC. This great new event will now be included as one of the USTRC’s 2014 80+ fully sanctioned qualifier ropings held annually in the United States and will be open to all ropers, not just those riding Paint Horses.
A special feature of the event, however, will be directed at APHA members. A $5,000 cash bonus has been set aside and will be offered in addition to the regular USTRC payout and prize line. If the rider of a registered Paint Horse has a TRIAD Classification number of six (#6) or greater, and is high money winner with that classification, the owner of the horse will earn a $2,500 cash bonus. The same $2,500 incentive bonus will be awarded to the owner of the registered paint horse whose rider was the high money winner classified as an Elite #5 and below. The owners must be APHA members to receive the bonus.
“We are very pleased to join forces with the USTRC for this team roping and to be able to hold it in conjunction with our World Show,” said Billy Smith, APHA Executive Director. “It will be a great climax to our World Show, coming as it does on the final weekend.” Kirk Bray, USTRC President, added, “We appreciate the opportunity to team up with the APHA during its World Show to produce an event in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Will Rogers Coliseum. This event will benefit all ropers in the North Texas area and beyond, but for those competing on paint horses the APHA cash bonus will be a special attraction.”
Entry information will become available shortly in various roping oriented print publications, in SuperLooper Magazine, or by calling the USTRC – 254-968-0002. Horses must be registered for the incentive bonus at the roping.
