2014 Application Information Package
The Calgary Stampede Indian Princess program originated in 1965 with the inaugural crowning of Gloria Littlelight. Since then, young woman from the five tribes of Treaty 7 compete for this iconic crown and the opportunity to represent the five tribes of Treaty7, Indian Village and the Calgary Stampede.
The Calgary Stampede Indian Princess is selected by acquiring points in a variety of categories and must be knowledgeable about the Tribes and Traditions she will be representing. At the end of the two-day competition, the contestant with the highest accumulated points will be crowned Calgary Stampede Indian Princess and reign for one year.
Judging is done by representatives of the Calgary Stampede, Indian Princess Sponsors, Indian Events Committee and Representatives of Treaty 7. Contestants will be judged on: Application Package, Personal Interview, Public Speaking,Dance, Interpersonal Communication, Impromptu Questions and Horsemanship.
The Application process requires submitting the following items to the Calgary Stampede Indian Princess Committee. Contestants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible and prior to August 2and prior to August 2and prior to August 2and prior to August 23rd in order to prepare for the Competition.
