The MATE Center’s International Student ROV Competition challenges student teams from middle schools, high schools, home schools, after school clubs, community colleges, and universities to learn and apply science, technology, engineering, and math skills by designing and building underwater robots–also known as ROVs, or remotely operated vehicles–to complete missions that simulate real-world problems from the ocean workplace. This year’s competition highlights the role that ROVs play in exploring and documenting shipwrecks, studying sinkholes, and conserving our national maritime heritage sites.
