The bike-a-thon raises funds for local cancer treatment. Riders in the one-day event, held in August, ask family, friends, co-workers, etc. to support their efforts by making a donation to LIFEcycle. These funds are used to support oncology services for children and adults, with a focus on patients assistance funds and clinical trials. Your participation as a rider or volunteer, or your contribution in support of one, helps ensure that local patients can receive the treatment they need, and it helps ensure that cancer treatment continues to improve, nationally and globally.

The Details

Location: Bryant University, 1150 Douglas Turnpike Smithfield, RI
Distance: The routes will be approximately 25 and 75 miles long
NEW for 2014: Routes will have a staggered start (approx: 75 @ 7:00am, 25 @ 10:30am)
- The goal is to bring more people together after ride, to celebrate our collective achievement with a festive post-ride party!
Terrain: All routes will have a mix of gently rolling roads and challenging climbs
There will be light-moderate automobile traffic
Busy sections will likely have volunteers to increase visibility and promote safety
Map: Available in June; people with GPS/smartphones will be able to download course files
Support: All routes will be supported by volunteers who will ride alongside RRR cyclists to offer support – both mechanical and motivational. There will also be “sag wagons” driving the routes to provide mechanical assistance or a ride back to Bryant for any cyclists in need
Gear: Helmets are required for ALL riders and road bike is ideal for all routes, and strongly recommended for the 75-mile route
