Cougar Elementary School (CES) and Manassas Park Elementary School (MPES) in Manassas Park pride themselves in creating and maintaining programs to promote academic success for our students. Each year, our schools work hard to meet yearly progress goals, establish solid Title I reading programs for our struggling readers, and create innovative programs to differentiate instruction.
The Cougar Literacy 5K Run/Walk and Health and Wellness Fair, which will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014, is in its ninth year of celebrating student success in reading. The day begins with the Cougar Literacy 5K Run/Walk at 7:59 am. Throughout the day, hundreds of families from the community learn about literacy, community involvement, the importance of physical activity and much more through the vendors we have present. All proceeds will provide students with a free Literacy Run t-shirt and will support our technology program in our classrooms which will further our literacy development programs. Last year’s funds were used to purchase more than 50 Google Nexus 7 tablets, cases, Google Play Cards, and storage carts!
Proceeds benefit all students’ literacy development at Cougar Elementary and Manassas Park Elementary Schools through the technology.
