Decatur Celebration announces the 2nd annual Heinkel’s Packing Company Hot Dog Eating Competition

Register now to compete at the qualification event on Saturday, June 22 (3pm at Curly’s Sports Bar). The top 10 eaters will advance to the finals at Decatur Celebration on Saturday, August 3 (3pm on the Funfest Stage) for a chance to win:

First prize — $500 and 4 All-inclusive Coca-Cola Scoreboard Tickets for a Cardinals baseball game
Second prize — $250 and a $50 gift certificate to Heinkel’s Packing Company
Third prize — $100 and a $50 gift certificate to Heinkel’s Packing Company

Contestants must pre-register; forms and instructions are at www.heinkelspacking.com. The competition is limited to 50 competitors, first come first serve. Must be 18 years or older to compete.

Last year’s hot dog eating competition winner, John Palmgren from Peoria, was able to claim the cash prize and Cardinal baseball tickets by finishing 14 hotdogs in 10 minutes. While Palmgren claimed that the heat played a big factor in not reaching his personal record of 22 hotdogs, he was ecstatic to receive the baseball tickets and be a part of the inaugural Heinkel’s Hot Dog Eating Competition.

We’ll be giving away prizes and t-shirts leading up to the big event on the Funfest Stage on Saturday August 3rd, 2013 at 3:00 p.m.
